Assisted Healthcare Residences and Protected Apartments – AGIDI Conference online 20 October 2022
Roberto Tribuno, Sole Director of HEALTH INVEST, previews his report

In today’s society, a new way of conceiving Structures dedicated to the elderly is developing: buildings designed to integrate into the urban and social fabric. The goal is to expand the offer of services dedicated to the elderly: not only RSA but also Protected Housing and Polyclinics.
The size of private and common spaces, comfort, livability, sociability, the guarantee of privacy are primary objectives to be pursued in the creation of a Structure for the elderly. Our Structures are designed and built on the basis of innovative concepts, both in the layout and in the materials used, using the best plant technologies, home automation and digital control technologies. The materials used are of the latest generation to guarantee maximum energy efficiency and the achievement of LEED certifications.
Funding, models and projects for the transformation of Long Term Care and residential formats for seniors

Over the last three years, the inadequacy of the current provision of healthcare facilities to deal with the consequences of demographic aging has emerged in all its scope, and the search for new solutions is at the center of the reform projects proposed by the PNRR.
In addition to increasing the supply of beds, the investment planning pursues other objectives of particular interest for the real estate industry, including the partial reconversion of RSAs and retirement homes into independent apartments to ensure maximum independence for the elderly (Mission 5). An approach that reaffirms the crucial role of RSAs within the healthcare system but places it at the end of a more complex residential path to respond to the diversification of housing demand of a growing and heterogeneous segment of the population.
The new edition of the AGIDI conference on the transformation of healthcare residences focuses on the most relevant issues for real estate, including the targeted redevelopment of abandoned buildings, the revision of formats and layouts, the conditions for the affirmation of integrated housing and care models, the urban planning framework of new development projects and the role of the partnership between ownership and management, with the aim of placing the discussion in the broader perspective of the transition towards new sustainable, functional and inclusive urban models.
